Thoughts on being a pastor

From Eugene Peterson's book, "Under the Unpredictable Plant"

"Somehow we American pastors, without really noticing what was happening, got our vocations redefined in the terms of American careerism."

"...the vocation of pastor has to do with living out the implications of the word of God in community, not sailing off into the exotic seas of religion in search of fame and fortune."

"I find that resentment of the congregation is the 'sin crouching at the door' every time I enter or leave the church."

Pastors are people,

I have always admired how much you read on being a pastor, it is challenging, encouraging and hopefully moves pastors to take back the definition of pastor.
