Thoughts on being a pastor

"Somehow we American pastors, without really noticing what was happening, got our vocations redefined in the terms of American careerism."

"...the vocation of pastor has to do with living out the implications of the word of God in community, not sailing off into the exotic seas of religion in search of fame and fortune."

I have always admired how much you read on being a pastor, it is challenging, encouraging and hopefully moves pastors to take back the definition of pastor.

Spent the day with my family and extended family at my folks. They live across the street from a park and a beach on Lake Michigan. We hung out under the blazing sun and I got burned. Working today on the garage sale for tomorrow. Tonight Vic and I are heading to Outback Steakhouse to use some gift certificates from Christmas! I can't believe it took so long to use them! HELP! :) Played golf last night and played poorly. It was my first time out and I was rusty, but I also kept thinking my bad knee would bust open during my swing...
